Join in the official launch and unveiling of a new permanent artwork in the front grounds of the New Farm Neighbourhood Centre. The artwork commemorates the local Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) community, and aims to enhance the visibility and social inclusion of the Queer community.

Join in the official launch and unveiling of a new permanent artwork in the front grounds of the New Farm Neighbourhood Centre. The artwork commemorates the local Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) community, and aims to enhance the visibility and social inclusion of the Queer community.
In addition to speeches and the usual formalities, the artwork launch event will also include:
- Participants will observe as the giant rainbow flag, belonging to the Brisbane Pride Festival, is removed to officially unveil the artwork.
- The showing of display panels from the 2010 Prejudice and Pride exhibition at the Museum of Brisbane, commemorating the past LGBT history of Brisbane. Attendees will be able to read these informative panels which will be distributed around the artwork in the Neighbourhood Centre front yard.
- Members of Hotmale choir will perform the song “Equality”.
- Attendees will draw a large chalk rainbow crossing beside the new artwork and leading up to the Neighbourhood Centre entrance.
- Refreshments will be served to participants
New Farm Neighbourhood Centre and the project team who developed the artwork, thank Brisbane City Council for their funding of this artwork through a Community Development and Capacity Building Grant, as well the following businesses who generously donated materials used in constructing the artwork.
